Reason for Participating on the Skagit Watershed Council
The reason why I wanted to become an active member of the Skagit Watershed Council is because I recognize the council as being one of the main organizations within our area (Whatcom and Skagit Counties) that can provide guidance on decisions that affect water quality in the Skagit River. The Skagit River has been targeted by the Puget Sound Partnership as one of our key watersheds in which water quality and salmon/wildlife habitat needs to be protected. Water quality has been the main focus of my work with GeoEngineers, specifically projects involving stormwater pollution prevention. As a Certified Professional in Stormwater Quality I would like to share my knowledge in stormwater management and provide information as needed through the Skagit Watershed Council. I feel that improving stormwater runoff to our streams and rivers is imperative to maintaining healthy salmon populations and riverine ecosystems.
