City of Mount Vernon
Representatives
Mission: We provide professional, efficient services to create a lifetime positive difference for our Community. Primary Programs/Projects:
- One of the main reasons the City’s Surface Water Utility was established is to improve the water quality of our local wetlands, streams, and the Skagit River.
- The City is dedicated to improving fish passage as resources become available as is evident by the fish passage improvements in the Trumpeter basin on Seneca Drive and Apache Drive. Also in cooperation with Skagit County along Maddox Creek at Blackburn Road, Anderson Road and Blodgett Road.
- The City has completed stream riparian corridor and wetland improvements along Martha Washington Creek, Maddox Creek, Trumpeter Creek, and Kulshan Creek.
- The City has made water quality improvements along the Skagit River in the downtown by removing the parking structure and installing Low Impact Development BMPs (best management practices) such as rain gardens and pervious pavers.
